Is CBT Different for Children and for Adults?
Not really!
The theoretical principles are the same, however, therapy needs to be adapted to the child or young person’s developmental stage and unique diverse needs.
Online Cognitive Behavioural Therapy uses the same principles for children and adults:
- Structured sessions with an expert children and young people’s therapist
- Children and young people can learn strategies to change thinking and behavioural patterns
- Young people and children reclaim their life leading to be the person they want to be
- It is bespoke and tailored to the needs, goals and values of the young person
- It collaborates with loved one if necessary
- CBT enables children to understand their situation

How is privacy maintained for my child?
Therapists are all registered with the ICO, and our booking system is GDPR compliant.
How will my child benefit from therapy?
Whether is CBT, EMDR, ERP, ACT, Mindfulness, Nero-affirming parenting or other therapies our experts are trained.
All of them are researched based and have been implemented for a number of years, and within the NHS.
Do I need to prepare before therapy as parent?
This depends on the age of your child.
With young children, parents have an active collaborative role and they are often seen with their child and alone.
When working with older children, you will also be included as parent or carer.
You will likely be involved in the assessment phase, and for younger children parents are met forehand alone to get a picture of difficulties.
How long does my child need therapy for?
Therapy can last from 4 to 6 sessions for some people, and usually can take 8 to 14 sessions to work on specific areas. Sometimes, in complex cases session may be 20 to 30.
We are all individuals so best option would be to speak to one of our Mental Health Specialists, and after an assessment a bespoke personalised plan will be agreed.
However, in therapy, as in life, things do change.
