Accreditation isn't a one-off achievement
Becoming accredited as a supervisor isn’t a finish line — it comes with ongoing requirements to maintain it. From my own experience going through this, it’s worth understanding these clearly from the start, rather than scrambling to piece together evidence when a reaccreditation or audit comes around.
To maintain your supervisor accreditation, you need to be continuously doing CPD, and provide at least 20 hours of supervision per year to qualified therapists or trainees. You also need around 5% of your supervision hours to be your own supervisory supervision — the meta-supervision that supports your practice as a supervisor.
You need to complete a minimum of one supervisory CPD activity per year, over the last two years, which is quite straightforward once it’s built into your routine. This can include attending workshops, courses, or conferences, being involved in research or publication, reading relevant literature, media involvement, or contributing to developing CBT services.
I’d genuinely recommend keeping a running log of your supervision hours and CPD activity as you go, rather than trying to reconstruct it later. If you’re selected for audit, having this ready saves a considerable amount of stress. It also makes it much easier to reflect honestly on your own development as a supervisor, year on year.
